![]() I like the Vantec ones, I've never gotten a bad one from them. ![]() Keep in mind this is not true with Logic Pro X and that's why I switched to Ableton One more thing, I moved all my libraries to the external hard drive: Komplete Ultimate & Ableton Suite. ![]() No point in eating up that space on my internal laptop drive. All my Ableton projects contain more than 10 Komplete instruments instances & effects. Now it’s my Komplete 12 Ultimate audio drive and holds all the libraries and sound files. They are the only ones I know that are okay for audio work. I recently cracked open my NI Komplete 10 hard drive, removed the spinning disk and replaced it with a 1 TB SSD. If you want to buy a ready made one, you need to go for a glyph. They both work fine, though I usually end up using a powered hub for the laptop sized one. I do have both - a 1 Tb 7200 laptop drive in a laptop enclosure and a 3.5" 2TB 7200 drive in a desktop enclosure. If you get a desktop size (takes 3.5" drives), it should come with its own power supply, which also helps with the speed. Really, the best thing is an SSD drive, but for the size you need, it will be pricey. I've also made them cheaper than a ready made external drive. Plus if you make your own, you can get a WD Black drive, which you will never find in an external drive. The majority of the ready made external drives are 5400 RPM and are useless for audio work. ![]() So this is a little confusing, obviously you can buy an external hard drive, but you can also buy an enclosure which you can then fit a hard drive into and then plug it into your computer? How is not that the exact same concept as an external hard drive? And also they are both 7,200rpm anyway so what's the advantage here? Thanks in advance. You are making your own external drive.
